ATCC 35097 Methanothermococcus thermolithotrophicus ,热自养甲烷嗜热球菌。
严格厌氧古菌、不规则球（约1.5 µm）、丛生鞭毛、运动、革兰氏染色阴性、在 SDS (2%) 条件下细胞立即裂解，利用H2/CO2或甲酸盐生长。有机物不是生长刺激因子。温度生长范围是30～70℃，最适生长温度是65℃；pH生长范围是6 ～8.，最适pH生长值为7，NaCl 生长范围是1.38.3%，NaCl 最适生长浓度是4 %。基因组GC含量为31.6%.
