Microbispora amethystogenes has been regarded as a heterotypic synonym of Microbispora rosea subsp. rosea by Miyadoh et al. 1990, but according to the DNA–DNA relatedness values of Boondaeng et al. 2009, it is a seperate species. (Medium 65, 37°C).
